Got one of these a couple of weeks ago and it's fantastic. Just ordered another.

While it's a learning remote, Logitech keeps an up-to-date database of remote codes. You select the mfg., device type (CD player, VCR, etc.) and model number after installing the software and connecting the remote via USB.

Logitech then downloads the IR codes into the remote. They maintain an account with your info so switching out a devices is quick. Just log in and make the change.

A really nice feature is the '1-touch'.

During the setup, you're asked (e.g.) "how do you watch TV"? TV tuner, VCR tuner, etc.

Example. If I press the "watch tv" button, my tv comes on to line input 1, the vcr comes on and switches to tuner mode and the receiver turns on, goes to the TV input and surround sound mode.

Same with 'watch a movie' (DVD), 'play a video' (vcr), 'listen to music' (CD) and 'listen to the radio'.

I got them from tigerdirect.com for US$84 each.

This morning, I hit the off button but the receiver didn't shut off because the IR path was blocked by an object. When you it the (all) off button, a message appears that says the remote thinks everything is off. If not, click the help button. This brings up a screen that asks what didn't shut off? I hit the receiver choice and everything was back in sync. It then asked if it fixed the problem. I hit yes and was done.

WOW... almost like George Jetson.

And I thought it was cool to just say "Hello Heather, please turn on the tv"

Jay, I agree. I have a older Harmony remote that made the whole TV and theatre experience for my wife comfortable.

The help is particularly helpful biggrin.gif It's very simple - and actually works!

I have a 688 for my guest room with the Sony 35" and Linksys MCE Extender and a 880 for my HT Samsung 56" DLP. Nice remotes.
