Well, I think it's time to replace my trusty Compaq Presario 1655. CompUSA has clearance sales this weekend. Bye old friend, it's been 8 years of fun but I believe I've outgrown 64MB of Win 98SE. I'm thinking of getting it a little Palm TX buddy while I'm at it.

I don't THINK there's a current PPC I'd want that runs WM ver. 5.

At any rate, I did want to get the CompUSA in-store sale info out. Starts at 6PM today and goes thru Saturday. https://www.compusa.com/

I went to Staples and grabbed a Gateway notebook MX7118. 64-bit Athlon, 80G drive, 512, Win Media Ed. Will see how it goes. Need to charge until around 2:30 then will play.

Primary use is a fat client for XLobby so it should be OK.

Well, at least you'll be able to use the keyboard and see the text on the screen of that laptop. I was just "issued" a Blackberry and between the funky keys and the miniscule LCD I believe I am going nuts. blink.gif

Yeah, the Gateway was a supah buy for US$599.00 biggrin.gif

All my machines here are now Gateways; and I'm a Dell reseller (shh). Well, there are still the Audries... smile.gif

Hold on. I could scan it - better yet, I'll key the serial no. into Gateway's site and get the exact stuff...

Ahh! GW needs to scan the unit and it's in the house. I printed out the highlights so I'll manually type them from hardcopy:
Media Center 2k5
AMD mobile Athlon 64
dvd RW+-dual layer
Screen 15.4 inches, 16x10 aspect ratio & ATI Mobility Radion X300
80 MB Drive
512MB DDRAM
Bus 1600MHz
Processor speed 2.2GHz - Cache 1MB
Integrated 54 wireless and hardwired 10/100 port
Firewire, 4 2.0 USBs
S-video output
and every memory card input that's out there
I probably missed something of interest.

It's a satisfactory fat client.

Actually, I'd like to use the PPC as a fat client also, now that I see how powerful they can be. That'll require Windows. Oh well.
