I have been in both a porsche club and a vette club.
I was very active in the porsche club and had a lot of fun. We had happy hours
about once a month but what I really enjoyed was the road trips. Twice a year we would do tours. Spring trip to the Texas Hill Country and fall to Arkansas. On the Hill Country tours, it was really a blast. we would have about 35-45 cars going through the Texas backroads at speeds well over 100 MPH....
We had cars ahead that looked for local cops and we had plently of 2-way radios and other electronics. Really quite a fun trip. We would cover about 800 miles in 3 days but had plenty of down time due to the speeds that we were able to maintain.
In the corvette club, I really wasn't active. They mainly concentrated on drag racing as I found out.

Well, the Porche part sounds neat. Yeah, Vettes can be geared for the drags but if I was going to spend those bucks and go for the drag space (totally unlikely now), I'd go for a nitro rail job. Vettes need image enhancement as do the new Caddies. Fine machines, but old perceptions persist.
The 450HP roadster pulls serious Gs but you only see old guys driving them. Marketing, marketing...
I dragged as a kid
