my other place has 4 zones that I currently control via an impedence-matching switchbox with independant volume controls. I think one channel (the xfrmr) is already blown as I have serious distortion in one room. Looks like parts-express has already disco'd the product.

Here, I have auto-xfrmr, wall-mounted volume controls in each zone and a big-a** amp. I don't want to tear walls apart down there to mount volume controls in the wall.

I have no interest in feeding different sources to diff rooms. It's my way or the highway

So, I'm looking at either 4 independant amps and a preamp to feed them or a 4-channel amp. Despite the fact that the previous owner put in top-line, wall-mount Polks, music is background to me and 25 watts/channel x 4 channels will do it.

Summary. 4 stereo channels, 25 watts per channel, and a preamp to feed all/it with PC, CD and radio. Amp/s must be IR controllable. Got Xantech.
