I weaned myself from MS Office about a year ago in favo(u)r of OpenOffice which is free. Never looked back.

I just upgraded from 1.5 to 2.0 (thanks for the flag, CNET).
All of my existing, converted MS files are still fine and the folks at OO have added some enhancements that I haven't played with yet.

Take a sip. It won't convert anything unless you give it specific approval.
