I found that article kind of amusing.

When the X30 came out (about a year ago), the prediction was that three more versions were coming soon - the rumored media, phone, and VGA versions would be out in the fall (fall 2004). These were "well known" to be coming soon. In fact, a lot of people were saying they would just wait for them and not bother with the X30. It was not known whether these would be 3 separate PDAs or if features would be combined.

Of course, the media and phone PDAs didn't come out when expected and still aren't out. The X50 came along, though. Certainly a nice PDA, but not everything people were looking for.

We'll see what comes with these - they certainly seem to be a lot further down the road (based on this article) than earlier predicted.

The "history" above is based on following the forums on www.aximsite.com. I've got an X30, myself, and am very happy with it.
