Nancy hired and trained a girl in the financial biz. She is paid $93K a year to be Nancy's assistant. She's failed the CFA exam 3 consecutive times and has decided she now wants to go into sales so she can live in her old 'hood which is in the middle of Nowhere, PA. Company rules are such that when one changes jobs, they must have at least the same base pay as their previous position. There are few qualified prospects in her home town.
Does this sound like government?
And Nancy has to find and train someone new.

Martin,
you have a real biz.
I Left Tandy/RS - Hated Ft. Worth - Hell's 1/2 acre, the stockyards, et all. I once raised my hand to mop my brow and almost bought a steer
). As National Sales Manager - specifically, head of Education and FF 500 computer sales (not of retail stores), I took a leave to enter the financial world (Nancy's world) in '83 as an experiment and was paid an obscene amount to opine about where tech was headed.
Could not live with myself taking those bucks. Bailed out in the same year. Went back to the Shack until '96.
Been my own man for 9 years now. Seems like yesterday.

Jay,
Sounds to me like you're doing great. I was in software sales selling the big stuff. Some orders would go 8 digits. Did pretty well at it and finally said now is the time to do something I really like (hated forecast reports!). Business has been going better than expected and I'm still having fun. That's all I can ask for!
